Our vision is to have a dynamic, fun & active membership exemplifying the ideals of Rotary International by making a real difference in our local and global community, through the Four Avenues of Service – Community, Vocational, Club and International based on the Club Leadership Plan.
The Rotary Club of Burnaby Metrotown was charted on February 1, 1979. It currently has 26 members and meets every Wednesday at 12:15pm in the Board Room at The Burnaby Firefighters’ Club, 6515 Bonsor Ave, Burnaby.
For more than 35 years, the Rotary Club of Burnaby Metrotown has been and continues to be a strong supporter of local service agencies, non profit groups and civic projects – making a difference in the fabric of our community for all ages, kids, youths and seniors.
Rotary Coats For Kids – Since Dec 2006, we collected and distributed over 11, 000 winter coats to kids and youths and other miscellaneous clothing collected for other community organizations through the Optimist club and schools.
Rotary Rollers – Graffiti Paint Outs – Since 2006, over 54 buildings, 2 highway pillars, 10 road dividers , 8 fences, 2 sheds, and 10 hydro poles painted over.
Sponsoring 17 students in Rotary Sanctioned CALS/Academy of Reading Rotary-sanctioned Literacy program in Burnaby – Started in 2013, the 17 students who were below grade reading level improved between 1 and 3 grades by the end of the year.
Adopted the Kwakiutl community partnering with the Rotary club of Port McNeil since 2013. Sponsored a modular building for their Library/Learning Centre, which officially opened Aug 2014 with over 3,000 books. This is part of the unique Government House/Rotary Literacy and Community Building program
Kind Acts “Coinspiracy” Program – Between 2006 and 2009, 27 Burnaby Schools plus the Burnaby Rotaract club were sponsored to raise awareness and engage students in kind actions.
Stream of Dreams Society – 2010, Save our fish program at Our Lady of Mercy School with St. Thomas More Collegiate participation’s students and parents and club members participation
St. Michael’s Centre Spring Tea – 2011, served the residents, volunteers and staff with tea and refreshments to celebrate their dedicated and heart warming community

Rotary International’s worldwide eradication of Polio
Music program for kids at risk in South Africa
Sound of Hope Bali project to support and empower the hearing impaired
Rotary Peace Fellowship applicants identified from Lower Mainland and Squamish successfully received this worldwide competitive fellowship with the most recent from North Vancouver for a Masters degree at University of Bradford Eligible applicants for the 2016 year are welcomed.
